We had a guided fly fishing trip with Ty on the Mackenzie river. Ty was an excellent and patient guide. He taught my wife and I how to fly fish efficiently and quickly such that we were able to be catching fish in no time! We caught tons of trout and one member of our group caught a steelhead.

Ty was an excellent guide! Very knowledgable and provided great instruction and guidance. Boat and gear were in great condition - clean and operational.

Tyler and the other guides made sure everyone caught lots and lots of fish. They served the early catch for lunch on the river. a highly recommended experience. The food was fantastic. Clay Holloway is my go to when visiting Eugene and fishing the McKenzie! I’ve fished with Clay on two full day occasions. A consummate professional who stresses safety first. My son and I spent two outstanding days on the McKenzie with Clay. What a terrific experience! Clay was a blast to fish with, great conversation, great fishing, great instruction, always positive feedback and perfect boat handling. Caught several nice wild bows along with a ton of hatchery rainbows and a few native cuts. Shore lunch both days was perfect with fresh caught fried hatchery fish, Clay’s wife’s pasta salad and homemade CC cookies, Brats, etc. I highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a great trip down the historic McKenzie river.

Had the best time! I don’t fish, but my boyfriend does. Clay our guide made us feel so welcome, and was so knowledgeable. I had a great time kicking back and enjoying the float, watching the waters and view, and our guide explained all about the wildlife I asked about. 10/10, would do again (my boyfriend already has!)

Ty was a simply fantastic fishing guide. He took me (I have fished a fair amount but don’t know anything about the McKenzie river and hadn’t fly fished in probably 20 years) and my two kids, 6 and 8. He was prompt, patient and a ridiculous fisherman. He guided the boat to spots and would (no joke) point at the water and tell my son to “roll cast right in there” and BAM. Fish. My daughter caught 3 all by herself (meaning she cast and caught them and reeled them in). We caught 10 and kept 9 (gotta throw back the native rainbows!). Ty also did a fish fry with us by parking on an island and cooking up the trout my kids JUST caught. He taught them how to clean them, and bread them and fry them. It was incredible. I left wishing I was floating on the river fishing for the rest of the week. Easiest 5 star review ever!

August 2021. While visiting the Eugene/Springfield area, my brother and I decided to take a day to try fly fishing. I hadn’t fly fished before and let Holloway Brothers know that I was a “newbie” when making reservations. We met our guide Clay on the McKenzie River and in a short period of time we had both caught our first fish. I was hoping we’d get lots of action and we definitely got that—with detailed knowledge of the river and where the fish prefer to hang out the bites were numerous. With timely guidance from Clay our ability to present the fly and set the hook improved as the day progressed so that by the end of the day we were able to release way more fish than we wanted to keep for a mid-day fish-fry prepared by Clay on the river’s edge (it doesn't get any fresher). Add the frequent wildlife sightings and and it all made for a really good time. I gotta do this again some day.

Ty and Ethan were fantastic. This is my 10th guided trip (all different guides) and Holloway Bros is easily in the top 2. Professional, easy going, very knowledgeable and knows the river like the back of their hand. I shared a float with a friend and we easily caught 25 fish each, in 4 hours, while our other friend had the boat to himself and easily caught upwards of 60 fish + the largest wilding rainbow he has ever caught; +18". I don't want to oversell too much; Some of that fishing can be attributed to the fantastic cooler, overcast weather and a break from previous record heat. But the point is unchanged; Holloway Bros is worth the money, time and trip and you will get your value out of it. Thanks Ty/Ethan/Holloway Bros, you made rounding out our trip with a bang.

My friend and I booked Holloway guiding service for steelhead fishing on 10/3/2020. We weren’t sure on the success rate due to the very low number of steelhead over the willamette falls but we had the best day anybody can have, Ty guided us, He seems to have very good knowledge on where the steelheads are, I hooked 2 steelheads in the early hours of fishing and my friend hooked one. Considering the low numbers Ty still managed to put us on the fish. Where ever he asked us to cast there was fish, he showed us where the fish were and it was our job to hook them. He also showed us how to set up for steelhead fishing and fly selection for success. 3 steelheads in one day. can’t ask for more. Give Holloway Brothers a call with confidence 👍

We just finished a great day on the water with Tyler Holloway of Holloway Brothers. He gave me some needed advice on my Spey casting, plus gave me some great tips on presentation for Willamette River steelhead. On to of that my buddy and I hooked up three times and landed one supper hot steelhead. A great fall day on the river. One of my top trips.

We spent a full day with Ty Fly Fishing which was by far one of the best experiences of our lives. His knowledge, professionalism and patience made our event seamless. The beauty of the McKenzie River is breathtaking but the fish coming out of the water as you are able to catch them is wonderful. We can't say enough to recommend this trip and Ty! Lunch included! This is a must do experience—fly fishing with Halloway Bros Fishing! Our guide Ty, was extremely knowledgeable and highly professional, patiently teaching us newbies how to fly fish and directing us to the best fishing holes. We caught plenty of fish and had wonderful time. The only mistake we made was selecting a half day trip. Go for the whole day!

We’ve been fishing with Holloway Bros and partner Ethan Nickels for almost ten years now and we keep coming back every year. We fly to Oregon and very often book three boats and three guides on consecutive days to fish for steelhead, trout and salmon throughout the year. These are excellent instructors. I have introduced fly fishing to my friends through Ty, Clay and Ethan. Camaraderie, scenery, and playing with the fish make the memories. Sandwiches made with love are enjoyed, often soup in the winter. We have a lot of laughs. There are no better guides than Holloway Bros. and Ethan Nickle. They have my highest recommendation without reservation.

I know both Ty and Clay Holloway well. They are everything a client could wish for in a fishing guide: professional, extremely knowledgeable, easygoing and fun to be with. I have had the pleasure of fishing for both steelhead and trout with Ty. He is always positive and encouraging when one doesn’t always put the fly just where he suggests you place it. He has a good sense of humor and is adept in mentoring the beginner as well as the accomplished angler. Fish or no fish, a trip with Ty has always been nothing but a pleasure.

I have fished with quite afew guides in the US and Canada. I fished with Ty for three days on the Deschutes River in Oregon. He was personable but on quiet side (a big plus in my book), handled his drift boat well, knew where to find fish and how to gat at them under difficult bank conditions, and an all around great guide. I haven't fished with Clay yet, but I enjoyed having dinner with them. Both are also involved in river-related charitable activites.I heartily recommend them.

I was on the Umpqua with my son-in-law in February. It was a tough day for winter steelheading and other boats we saw weren't having much luck but Ty got us into 5 beautiful winter steelhead! He knows Oregon rivers well and is an excellent guide and boatman. Top notch.

I have enjoyed fishing with the Holloway Brothers - Ty and Clay and also Ethan Nickel. These gents are world class guides and great guys to hang out with on the river. I have never had a bad time with these guys and have learned a lot and also caught quite a few winter steelhead, Chinook, and trout depending on the trip and river. We have fished the Mackenzie, North Umpqua, and Sixes rivers together as well as Lake Creek. I always fly fish from a drift boat when we go. The fishing, the scenery and the company can not be beat.

I've fished with Ty and Clay and these guys are fish magnets. Class acts and all around good folks.

Myself and friend have fished with Ty about once per year for six years now. I always value the experience, that's why we keep going back each year. Usually the trips go something like this: "It's the middle of winter, it's high and muddy, we won't catch anything for sure, etc etc." But then we always catch way more fish than we expect. I enjoy the teaching aspect of it most, always learning something new.

I have had the pleasure of fishing with the Holloway brothers on a number, and variety, of trips. I can enthusiastically recommend booking with them for trips on the N. Umpqua River. For the past two years my group of seventy-ish fly-fishing buddies have booked a group trip , and all agree that Ty and Clay's boats are prime; we have always gotten into steelhead and had a great time. Also, as I have recently discovered the joys of a Spey rod, I have booked two trips with Ty to wade The Flywater. I cannot say enough about Ty's knowledge of the Flywater, and the amazing steelhead that can be found in this beautiful section of the river.
